Workstation Graphics and Virtual Desktops in one

Dell recently announced the arrival of a virtual high end graphics workstation appliance. I am particularly proud of this product release as I was the original architect on the project. Although I transitioned to another project (stay tuned for it's announcement), I was a part of this project long enough to have significant impact on the overall design. One of the best aspects of this appliance is you are able to configure it in a very short duration with minimal effort. You are not required to be a virtualization expert to deliver the virtual graphic resources to end users. Simply plug in and boot the appliance, walk through a short setup wizard, and in no time you will have a number of virtual desktops that are available for users to connect to.

Another great aspect to this solution is that you have a choice between dedicated graphics for up to three users, or shared graphics for up to eight users. This is something that has never been delivered before now, in any out of the box solution. It was made possible by leveraging leading NVIDIA and PCoIP technologies to deliver the best possible experience for high end graphic users. You can read more about the solution from a peer of mine here or check out the product page here.

I was glad to be a part of this project and I look forward to sharing an update on my current project as soon as I am able.
